KITIMAT, B.C. – The District of Kitimat has issued JGC Fluor (JFJV) a Class A permit which falls within a Category 3 and applies to open burning for industrial and resource management. The current Category 2 fire prohibition instituted by BC Wildfire Service applies mainly to backyard and smaller industrial burning, and does not affect JFJV’s open burning program.
Open burning on the site will resume on or about May 15, 2019 and will continue until late spring, weather dependent. Safety plans and other measures are in place. All burning will be carefully planned and monitored, including: the timing; size and location of the burn piles, and the venting index.
JFJV is in frequent communication with the District of Kitimat and the Kitimat Fire Department regarding all open burning activities on site. If or when conditions change to unfavourable, JFJV will be notified and will discontinue any and all burning activities.
If you have an inquiry regarding the open burning program, please send to info@jfjvkitimat.com or call the JFJV community feedback lines at 250-632-JFJV (5358) or 1-888-499-JFJV (5358)
