Community Notification: Flaring Activity
LNG Canada advises that a new flaring activity will occur starting July 11 as part of the start-up of our refrigerant production unit.
During this period, community members may notice intermittent flaring and black smoke. This is expected and represents normal, controlled conditions during the equipment’s start-up phase.
Flaring is a provincially regulated safety measure that ensures the controlled, efficient combustion of natural gas during specific operational phases. It is a critical part of safely operating a facility of this scale and is not expected to be routine during regular operations.
